The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will actually want to use it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to compete while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed personally in the 1991 installment "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck showcased in season 10. Instead, players will obtain the Simpsons' everyday beat-up sedan, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic symbol of the series. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only customization item from the show coming to Rocket League. The event will also include a set of challenges to unlock additional rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a press release, the missions will require participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the complete list of challenge rewards isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems players will also receive wheels featuring a television showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event coincides with the major Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which includes a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
