From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
