Australia's authorities have ended the hunt for a four-year-old who has been lost in the remote area for almost twenty-one days, after additional attempts failed to find any signs of the youngster.

Chronology of Incidents

The child was observed enjoying himself outside his home on a secluded farmland close to Yunta, about 300km from Adelaide, on September 27th.

His grandmother stepped away for about a short period before checking on him, only to discover the youngster missing, prompting one of the largest ground and aerial operations in the region's records.

Latest Situation

Authorities - who do not believe criminal activity - say they will carry on looking into, but that the matter has become a "search for recovery".

Earlier, officials for a short time wound down the operation, only to resume it on recently alongside numerous Australian Defense Force personnel.

"Commissioner the commissioner said police were looking a wider zone based on new evaluations from medical and operation specialists, rather than any recent developments."

Mission Difficulties

On Friday, officials confirmed that the recent search had not discovered any evidence of Gus.

"You can imagine just how they are feeling... without having clarity as to specifically where Gus is and what's transpired to him. This would be heartbreaking for any loved ones," Official the commissioner said.

Via a representative, the relatives family has previously said they are "overwhelmed" by the child's loss.

"This has come as a trauma to our relatives and friends, and we are finding it difficult to process what has transpired," Bill Harbison said.

"Gus's disappearance is noticed in all of us, and we yearn for him exceeding words can describe."
